CENTRAL VACUUM

How Does it Work > Filter & Bag Maintenance

Electrostatic Bag Maintenance (GS & GX Series)

Change the filter-bag when it is filled. Frequency will depend on how often you use the central vacuum. If you own a GX series model, the integrated LCD monitor will indicate when to change the bag.

  1. To get to the filter-bag, remove the power unit's dust collector.*

  2. Remove, seal (with adhesive seal on bag) and discard the used filter-bag.

  3. Make sure the tabs on the bag adaptor are aligned with the slots on the bag collar as you install the new bag.

  4. Insert the bag as far as retention ring. Then, rotate 20° to ensure tabs on bag adaptor are no longer lined up with the slots in the bag collar.

  5. Reinstall the power unit's dust collector.

*If you own the GS110 model, rather then removing the dust collector, remove the power unit's top cover to change the bag.

You should also change the filter between the motor and dust bag (disc-shaped) at every three (3) filter-bag replacement.

Always use Cyclo Vac replacement bags. Failure to do so could void the warranty on your central vacuum power unit.

Filter Maintenance (E & DL series)

We recommend frequent maintenance of the filtration system to maintain optimal performance of your Cyclo Vac central vacuum system.

Cyclo Vac's power unit is equipped with two filters. The anti-clogging filter (thin fabric) catches bigger molecules, and the Cyclofiltre (thick fabric) captures the tiny micro-particles. These filters are washable in cold water (no bleach) and can be dried at low temperature.

  1. Remove the dust canister.

  2. Pull on the straps (at the base of the filters) to withdraw the filters. We suggest that you clean the anti-clogging filter (thin fabric) at every dust receptacle emptying by either shaking it or washing it. As for the Cyclofiltre (thick fabric) it should be washed after four anti-clogging filter cleanings (once a year).

  3. Make sure the filters are thoroughly dry before you reinstall them. To ensure proper motor protection, the filters need to be reinstalled into their initial position into the grooves of the filter frame. The Cyclofilter (thick fabric) should be installed first and over it, the anti-clogging filter-bag.

Don't reinstall damaged filters. Inspect the filters for punctures and tears before you reinstall them.

Ultra-Fresh* Permanent Filter Maintenance

The Ultra-Fresh filter (drum shaped) requires absolutely no maintenance! Our Cyclo Vac specialist will make sure it is in good condition when you bring your central vacuum for inspection after 500 hours of use, or in about 10 years.

Carbon Dust Filter Maintenance (Except models 110 and 210)

For people with a GX Series model, the integrated monitor will signal when to change this filter. For other models, Cyclo Vac recommends changing the carbon dust filter after three bag changes.

  1. Open the carbon dust filter frame (lift it up).

  2. Discard the worn filter.

  3. Insert the new filter (arrows on the filter should point outward).

  4. Close and lock the opening.
